moon rock
yeah... so i guess this isn't any kind of amazing photo, but i just really liked this rock and its many holes, and the little strands of grass strewn about, and the gentle black water cupping its side, sliding slowly past. and the shade of gray, so pale and perfect.

up and down and sideways
don't get dizzy looking at these.
light flowing up and in and out and down between the large cracks and the tiny triangles formed by one board against the other, bright and shadow, under your hand and around the corner. rough old weathered salt water air wood that helps you climb a small hill of sand and gives you a view of crashing water and rolling foam.

still on half moon bay. i guess it gets old, posting a bunch of photos from one trip, slowly. and i probably end up posting photos that wouldn't make my list of all time favorites, due to a sometimes-shortage of truly dazzling material. but it still feels better to post something than nothing, and reminds me of how much i love photography in general--taking, looking at, reacting to. listening to the sound of a real, mechanical shutter. which reminds me, i need to get film, some day, for the old, top view mamiya my dad gave me a few years ago. such a large, weighty thing. it makes me feel old fashioned just to hold it, which i've come to realize is one of my favorite ways to feel.
old fashioned. now there's something to explore.

what's in a name?
saw a bench with a plaque on it. nice enough quote, i guess. but what caught me is the name: Francis Edward Cassidy. this is [my dad's dad's first name] [my mom's dad's first name] [my last name].
pretty weird. kind of makes me believe in alternate universes. this guy was also born a year before my mom was conceived, though that's more of a stretch and less exact. but still. the name's enough. i guess there's nothing to do but...

what a holiday should be
gotta keep your noggin warm! this chiropractor's office knows how to keep their bones happy.
what a really great day. it's amazing how much fun just hanging with your girlfriends can be. running around in the sun, playing disk, drinking beer in the afternoon, catching a silly movie, shopping for sex toys... the fun never ends. i love living in the bay area, and i love how many great people live here with me.
